Report to Chinaberry Campground at Foss State Park on July 13th for race action!
Two age groups, 12 and under, 13-17.
Kayaks awarded to winner of each age group, donated by Great Plains Kubota of Clinton and Premium Aerospace Center of Burns Flat.
Registration is at 1:30 pm, racing begins at 2:00!
Christmas in July Duct Tape and Cardboard Boat Race Rules and Regulations Foss State Park Boat Build Rules as follow:
• All boats must be made prior to the race.
• All boats must be made from duct tape and cardboard ONLY.
• Decorations used for the boats can be other materials. Boats will be inspected before the race.
• Paddles must be made from duct tape and cardboard ONLY. • All boats must have sides. No open, singular plane boats that look like paddle boards.
• Have fun and be creative with your boat designs! Race Regulations
• Registration starts at 1:30pm at Chinaberry campground. Race starts at 2pm.
• There will be a race for 2 age groups: one for ages 12 and under and one for ages 13-17.
• 1 person per boat for each race.
• Life jackets are required to be worn by the person operating the boat.
• Wearing shoes for the race is optional.
• The race will start and end at the shoreline of Chinaberry campground. There will be a buoy about 25 yards from the shoreline that racers will go out to and come back from.
• All racers must always keep their hands and feet inside the boat. Body parts may not be used as paddles for the boat.
• Once the race is complete, please take your boat home with you or properly dispose of it in the nearest dumpster.
• A kayak will be the prize for the winner of each age group.
Foss Lake Christmas in July will be July 12-13. We have lots of activities planned and lots of families will enjoy everything that is on the agenda. The vendors will be in place at 1:00 on Friday, the Veterans program will start at 6:00 and the Dean Jackson Band fires up at 8:00.
There’s activities all day Saturday beginning at 7:00 am with the 5K run across the Dam.
We would welcome some additional vendors to join us for the 34th Annual Foss Lake Christmas in July Festival.
